Today, "you" are the children who have become stars in the sky.


There was no reason—none at all—for these 52 children to leave us on February 28, 2026. Their lives were cut short by nothing more than the greed and cruelty of the adult world.

We could try to shift the blame, calling it "Trump’s doing," or dismiss it as an "unavoidable tragedy." We could even cruelly ask if they brought this upon themselves. But none of that matters now.

No excuse can bring them back.

We have been through this before. We know that no wisdom from the sages, no miracle, and no power on earth can undo what has been done. Nothing can make it so that tomorrow morning, those children—with their tiny hands gripping their backpacks—will walk through their classroom doors again.

The weight of this helplessness is unbearable.

I send my heart to the children who are now stars. I write these words with a desperate longing to turn back the hands of time, though I know I cannot.

In their memory, I have listed each of their names, one by one.
